I get my prompts from a variety of places. Sometimes little snippets come to me, but those I usually file away in case I want them for something bigger later.
The writing I do in this site I intend to have stand fully on their own. I do not intend for any of the ideas to come straight from my own head. They are to be like little assignments, such as were given to me in my creative writing class in high school.
Some of the websites I use to get my prompts from are:
Creative Writing Prompts
Prompt Generator
and
Writer's Digest
I have a book entitled "Now Write! Fiction Writing Exercises From Today's Best Writers & Teachers". It is edited by Sherry Ellis. There are too many authors that have contributed to list, but you can see the book here: "Now Write!" on Amazon.com
Another method I have used is a little more creative, and has been very fun, and also very difficult. My boyfriend would select a picture and link it to me. I am not to read any description of the picture, or even information on who it is by. Sometimes it is a photograph, a painting, etc... I then write the story it evokes in me. This is one of my favorite methods. You can see some of this here: Thaydra.com Picture Writing. I always try to link to the artist's page when finished, so make sure to check them out.
So, if you have an idea for me, or a picture you'd like my story on, or if you find a cool book or website, please let me know! I'd appreciate all of it! You'll only be helping me out!
